Video Game Purists Ep 83: Spot On Casting
As always, we say “nothing happened” but yet we go on nearly an hour about this nothing. Then it’s time to go to the Switch where updates discover bluetooth, games were announced (and released), and we learn of the best casting ever for the 2022 Super Mario movie. On the gaming front, Trees continues with Car Mechanic Simulator, wraps Maneater and leaps into the Truth Quest DLC, customizes boats in AC Valhalla, and plays around with the perspective bending Superliminal. Fred has been going all arcade with Cruis’n Blast, engages heavy with Magic the Gathering Arena thanks to the Innestrad: Midnight Hunt set, and drags his way to the finish line of Sackboy. He also contemplates Halloween gaming and how his play habits may be in direct contradiction to his decision making on what to play.
Video Game Purists Ep. 82: We’re Falling Apart
This week Fred and Trees acknowledge that injuries can happen and its a time for healing. Additionally birthdays continue as does renovations. On the gaming front Trees is continuing to fix cars, has gone solo in Luigi’s Mansion 3, and continues to play AC: Valhalla the “wrong way”. Fred dabbles in mods, Magic: The Gathering, goes back to his FMV teenage years with Tender Loving Care, and enjoyed the b-tier title Werewolf the Apocalypse: Earthblood.
Video Game Purists Ep 81: Cool Yeti
This week Fred and Trees are just getting back into the swing of things and reminiscing on standard fair. On the gaming front Trees is of course working some Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 and giving a go to Game Pass title Breathedge. The highlight of the week is Luigi’s Mansion 3. Fred continues his journey of It Takes Two with his daughter, feels the sting of Demon’s Souls, and wrapped up Psychonauts 2. He also completed Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast for the first time. Although there’s not much nice to say, he forgot to mention the soundtrack is dope, which has a track featured at the end of the show!
Video Game Purists Ep 80: Adulting is Hard
This week was a bit tough on both the guys and there are stories to tell of the whole ordeal. It’s not all bad though because there were some important gaming anniversaries and Sony did it’s pseudo-E3 showcase! Trees has been busy repairing cards in Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 and completed Minecraft Dungeons with his boy. Fred got in some Vita time and is nearing the end of Psychonauts 2. He also got a chance to try out Aliens Fireteam Elite and continues to enjoy Demons Souls on PS5.
Video Game Purists Ep 79: SUP
This week it’s birthday’s for Trees and dog bars for Fred. Much on the gaming front as well, starting with Maneater, which Trees is still working through with his son and Fred has completed 100 percent. Additionally Trees was getting very Playstation Home-like with Riders Republic (the beta) and…Car Mechanic Simulator 2021! Fred waved goodbye to 12 Minutes and Doom II while continuing through Psychonauts 2 and having some GameStop shenanigans. His highlight this week, however, is that he’s really enjoying the life (and death) of Demon’s Souls.
Video Game Purists Ep 78: Spring 2022?
This week Trees makes the most of the weekend while Fred…doesn’t. After a brief discussion on Gamescom announcements things quickly move to the games they’ve played. Trees has his staples: Car Mechanic Simulator, Maneater, and AC Valhalla. He also got to experience the 4K upres version of Crimson Skies, gave an indie title Islanders shot, and wrapped up with Slime Rancher (Plortable Edition). Fred tries to figure out why he struggles with the PS2 era in particular after reflecting on his recent MGS2 playthrough. Then it’s all new stuff with 12 Minutes, Psychonauts 2, and Demons Souls (PS5).
Video Game Purists Ep 75: Nothing Happening
This week was relatively uneventful for our hosts, but that doesn’t stop the discussion. From the demonic nature of the loon to bandoleers of beer, life finds a way. On the gaming front Trees has upgraded his DLC in Car Mechanic Simlator, explored Billions Road further, and continues to grind Minecraft Dungeons with his son. This transitions to a dual discussion on Maneater, which Fred has also started this week. Fred also wraps up Cold War, enjoys some retro on the MiSTer, and has a serious fit over the Panzer Dragoon franchise, particularly Orta. It all wraps with some quick words on Sackboy’s Big Adventure and the addicting but also slow moving nature of Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
Video Game Purists Ep 74: Beach Shark
This week Fred goes first and manages to avoid drama in public rather than cause it while Trees is rocking back-to-back birthday parties. The two also give much love to the upcoming Picross S Sega release before delving into games. Fred finished Miles Morales, started Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut, and played plenty of coop with his daughter in It Takes Two. He also speaks of the ups and downs of playing Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. Trees has been repairing actual Gameboys, but also virtual cars in Car Mechanic Simulator. He also received his copy of Billions Road and got started in his empire building while also playing Minecraft Dungeons and some random shark game with his boy.
