Video Game Purists Ep. 73: MOA Burger
This week has been pretty boring for both our hosts, but there’s still chat about life, shopping, and entertainment. On the gaming front Trees continues his addiction to Car Mechanic Simulator, which is spreading. He also got back into Darkest Dungeon and tried the Xbox version of Tetris Effect Connected. Fred has been playing It Takes Two with his daughter, went retro with Panzer Dragoon, and burned through most of Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS5. He also played a chunk of Ninja Blade by From Software, but the story is more than it initially seemed.
Video Game Purists Ep 72: Jox Rox
This week Trees discusses the wrap up of vacation while Fred works through a very difficult series of events and listener mail sparks even deeper discussion. On the gaming front, Trees has been rocking through Yakuza: Like a Dragon while also dabbling in Star Wars Squadrons and returning to Titanfall 2. Fred has watched a bunch of media including Black Widow, The Forever Purge, Inside, and Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness (all spoiler free discussions). Fred’s games include Rayman Redemption and Biomutant as well as finishing Psychonauts and Far Cry Primal.
Video Game Purists Ep 71: Within 30 Seconds
This week Trees is having a blast on vacation while Fred enjoys a relaxed 4th of July weekend. Listener mail leads the discussion to the PS1 days before moving onto games. Trees has been playing more Car Mechanic Simulator and Mario Golf: Super Rush, plus early exploration into Lego Builder’s Journey. Fred played through Doom (1993), a good chunk of Far Cry Primal, and dipped his toe into the run-based PS5 exclusive Returnal.
Video Game Purists Ep. 70: Sega Wall Art
This week starts off with a very Sega discussion about the classic Genesis (or Mega Drive) days. We also hear about block parties and the joy of Best Buy employees before jumping into games. Trees traded in his XB1, took the plunge into the so-so Mario Golf and continues to dominate in Car Mechanic Simulator to the point that he’s almost out of things to do. The highlight this week for him was still Yakuza: Like a Dragon where the story is enticing but it’s main protagonist Ichiban that may be Trees’ favorite gaming character of all time. Fred wrapped Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, had a horrid time with Sea of Thieves, continues to enjoy Far Cry: Primal, and delved into getting gaming deals via Gamefly. He’s also going a bit retro with the newest re-release of Doom on Xbox and replaying Psychonauts.
Video Game Purists Ep 69: Cold Series X
This week there’s little time for personal life, so even these two dads give little attention to Father’s Day like the rest of the world. Trees finally has his new 4K TV set up and got to dazzle at his first Series X games, but he had to return quickly to his day job of full time mechanic in Car Mechanic Simulator on PS4. Fred dove into Dark Alliance thanks to a day one release on Game Pass and his impressions on both console and PC were disappointing. Despite this, he’s having nothing but a blast with both Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Far Cry Primal.
Video Game Purists Ep 68: Making Games is Hard
This week Trees had a date night and Fred turned the weekend into a full-time job. E3 happened and Fred watched less than normal while Trees watched more than normal and it all worked out to a fun rundown. On the games front Trees has become an official brake pads inspector with Car Mechanic Simulator (CMS) and he’s been dabbling in development with Game Builder Garage. Fred completed Mass Effect, toyed around with the Tunic demo, and has been enjoying Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart.
Video Game Purists Ep 67: Predict Nothing
This week is a bit frantic, but there’s still time for ER visits, credit checks, and E3 2021. On the gaming front Trees is continuing with MiiTopia but largely enthralled by Car Mechanic Simulator. Fred is wrapping up Mass Effect and completed The Inpatient.
Video Game Purists Ep 66: Celebrity Miis
This week kicks off with Trees getting an Xbox Series X! Turns out the All Access program he always wanted to use was finally available a whopping 8 months later and seems to be a relatively rare find on top of that. Then it’s on to Memorial Day weekends and listener mail before delving into games. Trees has been playing MiiTopia and Car Mechanic Simulator (PS4) while Fred dove deep into Mass Effect Legendary Edition on top of VR titles Psychonauts and the Rhombus of Ruin and The Inpatient.
Video Game Purists Ep 64: Is There A Rogue?
This week we have some politically discussions about social politics and inappropriate media. On the gaming front Trees is continuing with his Dead Cells crusade, even branching out to Void Bastards, but also re-living one of his favorite titles with Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Fred is giving up on Moss, giving his final impressions on Resident Evil Village, and enjoying the incredibly enhanced Spider-Man Remastered.
Video Game Purists Ep 63: “Short” Show
This week has to be a bit shorter due to Fred’s schedule, but nothing is trimmed and we still get in about 2 hours. After plenty of home drama last week Trees has a more relaxed week prepping for summer while Fred is just playing with retro setups. On the games front Trees is getting back into runs on Dead Cells and completed TellTale’s Guardians of the Galaxy title. Fred gave MIitopia a try as well as dove into VR with Rez Infinite and Moss. The big game for him is, of course, Resident Evil Village, which he adores.
