The ps2 was the age of sports games. That’s when Madden was at its peak in my opinion.

This is Fred, just adding Hect’s comments he made on a different location accidentally. I was able to manipulate the info but not the avatar or actual back end comment poster. If there’s an easier way to do this, lmk, I just don’t know much about comment manipulation.
1. Fire Pro Wrestling Returns – it’s the best wrestling game hands down on ps2, in North America, it was ported from Japan, and there’s better wrestling games in Japan but never ported…
2. Virtual Fighter 4: Evolution – It was a budget title, $20, and is prolly the best fighting game on the system, it’s intricate, easy to pick up, and hard to master, with many fighting styles represented. It was a nice surprise when this came out and I had a lot of friends who got it also, who weren’t necessarily VF fans, but the game is so good
3. Burnout 3: Takedown – Crashing…always good
4. Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks – Expanded the MK story at the time, and had a decent VS system within the game. More importantly, THIS WAS A HARD GAME TO FIND! I only played it because the neighbor rented it. Never could we find the game for sale again until the MK PS2 collection came out that had (i think) Deadly Alliance, Deception, Shaolin Monks, and Armageddon
5. Street Fighter Alpha Anthology – All the Alpha game..ALL OF THEM…even 3 Max/Upper if you high light alpha 3 and input a special code.
6. NBA Street Vol 3 – Street is an amazing series, and Vol 3 has a slam dunk contest mode…ALSO, create a player mode.
7. WWE Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth – It’s not the best WWE game on ps2, but it has the best CAW mode in the series. You can make Darth Vader and Spiderman in this version, even has an entrance for Spiderman, also a lot of costume options to make faithful representation of several real life wrestlers, most notably Bret Hart.
8. Marvel Ultimate Alliance – Great game, better as a multiplayer mostly for the party atmosphere of it, but just as easily played alone. Great controls, and a good story.
9. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 – First pro skater on PS2, and I hear Wolverine’s in it, but more importantly Bam Margera is in it, and it was at a time when Jackass was HUGE
10. We Love Katamari – I didn’t get this until a couple years ago on PS3, but it’s a great game

1. MGS3 – One of my all time favorite MGS and PS2 games. The ending still gives me the feels
2. 007 Everything or Nothing – Probably the best Bond game ever made, essentially a fully fleshed out James Bond movie, it’s a shame more titles didn’t follow this formula.
3. Oni – One of the first games I owned on my PS2, and it was fun as hell, combining gun combat with melee. If only Bungie had stuck with this project over that other game franchise 😉
4. Socom US Navy Seals – The concept of voice controlled gameplay was pretty damn sweet at the time (what can I say, some gimmicks work). But this game solidifies it’s spot on the list as my gateway drug to online play. I lost dozens of hours playing this game online.
5. Onimusha – the list of action-horror games I’ve played is few, but this game tops that list and still sticks with me years later. I need to find time to get into to sequels.
6. Ace Combat 5:The Unsung War – I was still in my flight sim phase and this game had a truly memorable and moving story. My favorite by far in the series
7. Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 – Joke all you want, but I do have a lot of fun with these games. The eight entry in the series allowed you to play with multiple officers which allowed for many a fun sessions with friends trying to work together and take over China. Can’t wait to give ROTK 13 a go!
8. Way of the Samurai – You relive the same three days over and over again ala Majora’s Mask. It’s weird how addicting this game was for me, I have yet to play the newer titles but I hope they’re just as fun
9. Guitaroo Man – Have to agree with Jam, this game is fantastic, my only regret is that I suck at rhythm based games and can enjoy it to it’s max potential. Still, very killer soundtrack
10. Mister Mosquito – A mosquito simulator, how could you not love this?!
