GHX Ep. 24: Conan Ain’t Bad

This week Fred and Trees get together early because Jam had some scheduling conflicts. It’s a surprisingly robust show including the loss of games over time (like, losing games as the years go by), the glory of the PS2, Battlefront 2’s update for those that played it, a bit more Burnout Paradise Remastered and The Witcher, followed by Fred really digging the 2007 Conan game.
GHX Ep. 23: Sick Trees

This week we officially resurrect Gaming History X and kick it off talking about…almost nothing related to video games. Trees is sick, Fred saw Tomb Raider, and no one drank on St. Paddy’s Day. The conversation quickly turns to games as the two discuss “indie AAA” games, why Burnout Paradise Remastered totally holds up, the expulsion of loot crates from Battlefront II, and the abysmal game that is Haze.
Opening song includes a track used, with permission, from Ozzed.
Closing song is a sample from Shamroctoroc by Doctor Octoroc.
Podcast: Jam’s Take on the Nintendo Switch

Jam steps up to give his take on the first anniversary of the Switch.
GHX Ep. 22: Beware, I Live!

We’re back (and bringing a Sinistar reference with us). For this first returning episode, Fred and Trees kick off the new GH101/GHX hybrid with just the base name Gaming History 101. Explanations are given to schedule (it’s weekly), format changes, and start testing it out. Please let us know what you like and don’t like. Also, fair warning, the episode is nearly 2 and a half hours long. It’s been a while.
Topics discussed:
- 2018 game releases
- Community Questions (Remasters, Switch controllers, Socio-political coverage of games, Explicit Content on podcast)
- Mad Max (2015)
- The Witcher (yes, the original one)
- Trees picks a b-tier game for Fred to play
Podcast: Reflecting on the Switch’s First Year

Fred is joined by Learned From Gaming‘s Chase to discuss Nintendo’s Switch on its one year anniversary. For the second time in history, Nintendo managed to highly innovate and turn the company’s success around in a very small period of time. The two discuss announcement, release, success, library, and various other notable topics.
GHX Episode 21: Trial Separation

On the final week of regular GHX episodes Trees and Fred get together to talk about the big issues. Topics include Street Fighter’s 30th Anniversary (and Capcom’s as well) in addition to the way video games look to the mainstream. Your big questions regarding future episodes are answered and the final GH101 livestream is also given a date. A prize awaits after the ending music.
GHX Ep 20: Bunny Trail Chase

This week Fred and Trees are joined by Chase from Learned from Gaming to talk about video game parenting, gaming traditions, and making old games look their best. There are some technical issues and the group go off on many random tangents, but the conversation flows like wine.
GHX Ep 19: A Wild Strip Mahjong Appears

This week we are hurting as technical issues continue to plague our show (mostly edited out), Trees gets injured and can’t make the show, Jam needs sleep at some point, and our guest has to cancel. Fortunately Strip Mahjong joins at the last minute and what results is an amusing and thought-provoking discussion. Topics include whether or not gaming is for kids anymore and a love letter to Microsoft’s recent efforts followed by lightning round, Splatoon 2, Mutant Football League, and of course “Just Stop!”
GHX Ep. 18: Technical Disaster

This week Fred and Trees return with a new format, but the same great content. Main topics include games that we return to and Fred’s lack of loot box thrills, followed by 5 of the community’s “lightening round” topics, and then getting to know your hosts. Don’t think we forgot “Just Stop” because it’s there too.
