Podcast: The History of CD-ROM Consoles, Part 2
This week Fred sits down with Ali of 42 Level One to discuss the more popular 32-bit generation of CD-ROM consoles. What started as a disaster with the 3DO Interactive Player gave way to the big releases of the Sega Saturn and the Sony Playstation. While the Saturn may seem dead in the water for the West, it was a strong presence in the East. Finally everything wraps up with the beloved console that lacked sales: the Sega Dreamcast.
Extra Credit: Sonic Boom’s 25th Anniversary Edition R Dash
Sega celebrated Sonic’s 25th Anniversary with a whopping 4 hour livestream for a relatively small amount of content. The stream was loaded with audio issues as well, so I guess it’s only fitting that a duplicating echo effect is present through this entire show as well, although we feel it’s still good enough to listen to and enjoy. Fred and Jam are joined by 42 Level One’s Andy and Ali to discuss the blue hedgehog’s upcoming endeavors.
Gaming History X: E3 2016 Predictions
While it doesn’t traditionally fit in the retro beat, E3 is a significant topic for all gamers because it marks a look ahead to what the next year will bring. Fred, Jam, and special guest Andy Urquhart from 42 Level One and Agents of Shieldcast joins to discuss predictions as to what next week’s conference could bring.
Podcast: Don’t Call It A Comeback
This week Fred gets stuck at work so Jam takes over hosting duties and teams up with 42 Level One’s Andy to discuss games that need to come back. Now they are both European, so expect a good deal of Sega titles as well as some audience participation. Actually Fred is a little worried he may no longer have a job, guess we’ll see next week.
Podcast: Press Button to Kick
This week is all about Bethesda, although oddly enough we’re probably the only podcast not heavily discussing Fallout. Based in Maryland and created in 1986, Bethesda Softworks came a long way and developed many games (some more ambitious than others) before landing into the open world frenzies the company is known for today.
E3 2015: Post Ubisoft and Sony Press Conferences
Yes, almost nothing at E3 was retro, but this is it for those podcasts and shows on our retro feed. Promise.
Members of the All Games team got together to give their impressions of the Ubisoft/Sony press conference. Sorry we didn’t record all of our post shows, this is what was captured. Featuring Esgee from the R9 cast, Ryan from the B-Team podcast, Andy from 42 Level One, and Fred from Gaming History 101 and the B-Team podcast.

Podcast: U R Not [RED] e
This week Fred and Jam are joined by Andy from 42 Level One to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Sony Playstation. This CD based console is responsible for so much ushering into the next iteration of game development, hardware, media, and game libraries. It touched each host in his own way and deserves to be celebrated on its second decade of existence.
Podcast: Final Fantasy X, X-2, and…XII?
This week we are an ensemble cast with Andy from 42 Level One and Agents of Shieldcast as well as Eli from Knuckleballer Radio joining to discuss the main PS2 iterations of the Final Fantasy Series: X, X-2, and XII. As with all our FF eps, it’s a broad overview, but the discussion will help you understand what to expect from each iteration and what development changes were made. With the recent HD remakes of the X titles, you may just be tempted to give these titles a second glance.
Podcast: Final Fantasy in 3D
This week we are joined by listener Fortengard and Andy from 42 Level One to discuss the original Playstation Final Fantasy games (FF VII – FF IX). Controversy erupts over the endless love and condemnation for VII, the brutal Junction System of VIII, and the all-too-familiar nature of IX. All beloved, the final opinion is that they should all be experienced.
