GHX Episode 14: Full House

This episode is a packed house with Wolfy (overclock.net) and guest Chase (learnedfromgaming.com) joining Fred and Trees, but the discussion is worth the crowded conditions. Tangents begin immediately but eventually they get back to discussing modern console wars, vacations, the current Switch library, and Sonic’s sordid legacy. The venting continues with a lengthy “Just Stop” section resulting in the longest (but one of the strongest) episodes yet.
Podcast: Future’s Past

This week Fred and Jam handle a slew of listener comments followed by the first part of the discussion on backward compatibility. New consoles playing old games seems like a no-brainer that should be in every console, but over the course of history it was never consistent by any manufacturer. Our duo compare the consoles that were backward compatible and how useful the function was in their own past.

Podcast: Geralt of Rivia

There are plenty of RPGs in the world and there are plenty of worlds in the high fantasy genre, but few are as robust and diverse as The Witcher series. Jam had to miss this week, but Fortengard takes his place to discuss not just the games, but the world of The Witcher and specifically its protagonist Geralt. Discussions are had on the origins, influences, characters, and of course video games that all stem from a home base in Poland.

GHX Ep. 13: Previously On…

This week it’s Fred and Trees again discussing upcoming game releases, hugely priced deluxe editions, and alternative forms of XP before the show even takes off. Topics include returning to games after major updates and titles we like to watch played instead of play ourselves. It all wraps with some insightful “Just Stop!” segments.
Podcast: Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

In celebration of Spider-Man: Homecoming arriving to theaters, Fred and Jam discuss the rocky road of Spider-Man video games. With humble beginnings on the Atari 2600 as the first comic book video game ever released, ol’ web head would go on to star in games both good and bad.

Podcast: Top 10 Super NES Games
After months of people begging us to finally do it, the announcement of the SNES Classic Edition was the final straw. We can’t very well let Nintendo be more punctual than we are. Fred, Jam, and guest Andy get together to debate the top 10 SNES games in a very tough debate of games that takes almost 3 hours. In the end, 10 final contestants are chosen and ranked.
GHX Ep. 12: Just Having Fun

This week it’s just Fred and Trees as they ring in American independence. Listener mail sees a lot of Nintendo Switch talk (and Fred just found one in the wild), but for the most part it’s all about having fun playing the games of summer.
Podcast: Groovy!

This week is the first part of our series on video game mascots. Whether or not you feel games are made for kids, there’s no denying that in the 80s and 90s the key to marketing to kids was with mascots, and video games used a ton of them. In this first part Fred and Jam take the bigger companies that have a series of mascots and talk about their effectiveness and the games attached to them.
E3 2017: GHX Ep. 11 – What Did You Play?

The biggest split between those that attend E3 and those that watch coverage online is the show itself. Aside from this year, E3 online usually ends on Monday when all the press conferences happen and the big announcements stop. For those that attend the show it’s the exact opposite with most missing the press conferences due to lack of invite or decent Internet, but you’ll be able to play many of the games on the actual show floor. In this “returning from E3” episode, Fred and Jam are joined by guests Andy (42 Level One, Agents of Shieldcast) and Chip (The B-Team Podcast, Agents of Shieldcast, Knuckleballer Radio) to discuss the games Fred actually played at E3. There’s plenty of discussion to be had and lots of insight on what we’ll be seeing in late 2017/early 2018. Note: This episode has no audio anomalies and a sound quality on par with what you have come to expect from our podcasts.
E3 2017: EA’s 2017 Press Conference Impressions

The day has come, it’s officially E3 Press Conferences Day 1 of 3, completely focused on Electronic Arts (EA). A panel with Fred, Heffe, Jam, and Normii get together to discuss what they saw and what they thought. At the end they also speak of predictions going into Day 2 and Microsoft/Bethesda.
